
Barbara F. Hanna
Policy Governance® Consultant
Barbara Hanna received her bachelor's degree from New College in Sarasota Florida where she established an American
Montessori preschool. In Ithaca New York she founded a 24-hour crisis intervention center before moving on to earn
her masters degree in public administration from Cornell University's Graduate School of Business. Barbara served
as an assistant administrator for a rural hospital near Ithaca, New York for four years. After moving to California
she was elected mayor of the City of Banning and then created the Orange Blossom Festival while employed by the
City of Riverside. She is currently on the Banning City Council.
In 1998 Barbara was selected to attend the Carver Policy Governance Academy. Having been personally trained by
Dr. John Carver and Miriam Mayhew Carver in the Policy Governance model, Barbara is now a governance consultant
focusing on those nonprofits with a true desire to make a difference in the world.
Edward
C. Ball
Edward C. Ball received a BA in Business Administration from California State University at Long Beach. He received
his MA from that same University in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Organizational Communication.
Ed has worked in access and parking since 1970. In 1984 he was a volunteer with the Olympics for the sailing venue
in Long Beach, California. From 1994 -7 he organized all of the public and private parking in downtown Riverside,
California under one management for the benefit of the Orange Blossom Festival.
Ed Ball attended a series of Policy Governance workshops in 1997-8. He attended the "Implications of the Policy
Governance Model for Managers and Management Managers by John Carver in January 1999. He assists Barbara Hanna
with a particular focus on the changes in management required by Policy Governance. Edward is a creative and "out-of-the-box"
thinker who can assist any organization in improving their effectiveness. Ed has been certified as a "Trainer
of Trainers" in the Genuine
Contact program, which includes Open Space
Technology and Cross-Cultural Conflict Resolution, by Birgitt Williams.
Ed is currently Director of The Common Project - a Biblically based entrepreneurship training program based in
Banning, CA.
Ed Ball and Barbara Hanna are partners in marriage as well as in Hanna & Associates.
